Hemp: Hemp fiber is one of the strongest and most durable of all natural textile fibers. Not only is hemp strong, but it also holds its shape, stretching less than any other natural fiber. Hemp may be known for its durability, but its comfort and style are second to none. The more hemp is used, the softer it gets. Hemp doesn't wear out, it wears in. Hemp is also naturally resistant to mold and ultraviolet light. Hemp fabric is a wonderful environmentally friendly product. It is an extremely fast growing crop and can produce 250% more fiber than cotton using the same amount of land. (hemptraders.com)
We use a variety of hemp textiles in our products including muslins, linen, summercloth & recycled blends.
Organic Cotton: Our snack bags are made with 100% organic cotton. Only low impact, organic dyes were used in the manufacturing process of this product. We currently offer two colors but hope to expand our choices in the future. This fabric meets the GOTS certification guidelines.
Bamboo: Bamboo is grown without the use of pesticides or herbicides due to its antibacterial properties. Bamboo is the most abundantly sustainable and renewable resource in the world. Bamboo can be harvested every 3-4 years. Bamboo requires no irrigation to grow - it thrives by natural rainfall. Bamboo's root system is so hardy, it helps prevent soil erosion. Bamboo processed with the chemical method can be processed with a 98% closed loop system which recovers and recycles the sodium hydroxide and carbon disulphide. Due to viscose from bamboo's natural ability to wick away moisture and eliminate odors, it is not necessary to wash items as frequently as other fabrics. Viscose from bamboo is biodegradable providing it is composted and not put into landfills.
We use two types of bamboo fabrics in our products:
Bamboo Velour: Our soft bamboo velour is created from 70% Bamboo, 28% Organic Cotton and 2% Polyester. Bamboo velour is the perfect fabric for many necessities and luxuries. Bamboo is an environmentally friendly crop because it is fast growing and needs no pesticides. It can absorb 4 times more than cotton alone. After many washes and use, bamboo velour keeps its softness and becomes slightly stiffer as the fibers lie down and condense. This product is lead free as certified by Intertek.
Bamboo Terry: Our bamboo baby loop terry is made of 70% bamboo, 28% organic cotton, and 2% polyester. With its short loop, soft texture and thirsty absorbency, it’s perfect for bath, bed and baby. The tiny weave and loops absorb quickly and dry fast as well. This product is lead free as certified by Intertek.
Burlap: 100% Jute, woven, heavier burlap. Made in USA. We like to screen print our burlap for one of a kind shopping totes. We also use recycled uthentic sisal coffee bags for our shopping toes. They are marked with the type and country of origin. These bags have been used to store and transport real coffee beans, so they have a distressed appearance and rich coffee smell.
Designer Cottons: We are currently using a high quality home decor weight 100% cotton for our flax seed heat packs. The print we are using now is from Amy Butler's Nigella line which is out of print and difficult to find. Because of this , once we run out of yardage, we will no longer be able to offer those prints. We occasionally use other designer brand fabrics for other items we sell, these are high quality & 100% cotton.
